Dented Brick® Cabernet Cask Finished Straight Rye Whiskey is a masterful fusion of American whiskey tradition and winemaking elegance. Crafted from 100% rye grain aged for 2 years in new oak barrels, then finished in former fill Cabernet wine casks from Hells Canyon Winery, this expression brings together the spice of rye with the rich depth of red wine, resulting in a layered spirit that redefines what a rye whiskey can be.
Fun Fact: Our newly added Pure Rye symbol is a nod to an old historic designation.
how it's made
Each batch begins with 100% rye, milled, mashed, fermented, and distilled in-house at Dented Brick® Distillery. The spirit is first aged for a minimum of two years in new American oak barrels (with char levels between 2,3, and 4) developing its foundational character of spice, vanilla, and toasted wood. It is then finished for an additional 2 years in former fill Hells Canyon Winery Cabernet Sauvignon casks, drawing out complex red fruit tones and tannic depth. Finally, the whiskey is proofed with pure artesian water sourced directly from Rocky Mountain snowmelt, naturally filtered through layers of limestone to achieve a smooth, mineral-rich profile.
TASTING NOTES
Aroma: Layers of oak, cherry, and cinnamon followed by almond, caramel, toasted coconut, and brown sugar.
Palate: Sweet plum and raisin entry that builds to a roasted almond and dark cherry peak.
Finish: Semi-dry and complex, with lingering notes of raisin, brown sugar, spicy rye, red grapes, oak, toasted coconut, and refined wine tannins.
